This project was to move BNSF’s existing Mainline to facilitate the expansion of the Fort Worth Alliance Airport which is the largest industrial airport in North America.

Selling Points

This expansion allows for the nonstop delivery of heavy lift items from North Texas to anywhere in the world. This project also eliminated 3 roadway crossings on very impactful crossings in North Fort Worth.

Major Achievements

This project consisted of establishment of 7 Miles of New Mainline construction needed to retire an existing mainline outside Fort Worth TX. Project consisted of 1.8 Million CY of earthwork, Construction of 9 New Bridges, installation of 18 New Box Culverts and Improvement of 4 Crossings to be enhanced to quiet zones.

Project was completed on time and included a critical 24 hour window in which 1 - 3 span 3 Track bridge was removed and replaced with a triple barrel, 160 ft, 8 X 10 box culvert in the window. This work was also completed in the middle, in coordination with BNSF Track, Signal, Mechanical and Telecom forces allowing them to continue to maintain access for their 100+ person team.

Savings

SEMA worked with the owner to come up with savings on the project that amounted to around $1,500,000.
