Originally HWY 56 was a overpass to I-25, HWY 56 is now an underpass with two roundabouts & park & ride. Includes 3 of 8 packages in picture) package 2/3, 4 and 6.

Improvements on I-25 between CO 56 to CO 402 to increase safety and add an express lane in each direction. The project involved 8 different package, completely rebuilding CO 56, CO 60, reconstruction 8 other bridges, rehabbing and widening GWRR Bridge, moving 500,000 CY of earthwork.

Selling Points

Overall project had 8 different packages. Flipped SH 56 to be under I-25 and aligned I-25 for the safety of the traveling public. Coordinated with multiple stakeholders such utilities, municipalities, businesses, and landowners. Smoothing vertical and horizontal curves and adding roundabouts on both sides of I-25 for increase of safety.

Major Achievements

The traveling public can safely access the bus station in median of I-25 from park n ride. Bustang is able to have safe and quicker ingress and egress onto I-25. Able to adapt to many changing aspects of project functionality such as signage, ITS and amenities. Since it was one of the first in this region it took a lot of planning and coordination with DTR.

Opened final configuration of SH 60 DDI with 21 days of fast track completing earthwork, paving and traffic signalization. DDI reduces the ROW footprint and minimizes construction disruption due to bridge placements between current bridges.

Savings

Saved over $1,000,000 with coordination with utility stakeholders and subcontractors. Was able to have stakeholders relocate utilities vs subcontractor. With competitive unit rates and collaborating with CDOT we were able to construct an additional 37 million of scope to complete items such DTR park n ride, roundabout, and aesthetics to HWY 60.
