The Hell’s Canyon Tower Strengthening Project was completed for the BNSF Railway Structures Department was completed to strengthen steel tower legs, replace and strengthen steel tower cap plates at expansion bearings, replace steel girder bearing stiffeners, and steel repair on an existing 645 foot steel tower bridge in Chino Valley Arizona. Heavy coordination with BNSF Operations was required to deliver this project safely and to keep the rail lines moving.
Major Achievements
Due to the difficult terrain and hazardous access issues, SEMA utilized the innovative Spider Powered Platform System and Bridge Inspection Trucks in order to complete this Project.
Savings
SEMA was able to complete construction while limiting delays to trains. Keeping BNSF trains moving allowed them to continue to efficiently serve customers from Phoenix to the rest of the country.
