  • Role and Responsibilities

    As Vice President, Heavy Rail, National, Tony Swedin leads SEMA’s national rail sector growth, managing client relationships, business development, and project execution across all districts. Reporting to T. Brett Ames, CEO, Corporate and District President, California, Rocky Mountain, Texas and Mid-Atlantic, he ensures rail projects align with SEMA’s strategic vision and industry-leading standards.

    With experience delivering over $1 billion in rail infrastructure, Tony specializes in alternative delivery, pricing, and risk management. He provides constructability reviews, site visits, and cost evaluations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and long-term project success. His expertise in collaborative contracting methods, including Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) and Progressive Design-Build (PDB), strengthens partnerships with owners and trade partners.

    A true railroader at heart, Tony remains actively engaged on-site, offering leadership, strategic oversight, and hands-on problem-solving.
