Sr. Project Manager (Denver, CO)

SEMA Construction, Inc., voted a Top Workplace by the Denver Post for the past three years, has an immediate opening for an experienced Sr. Project Manager with a background in heavy civil construction. The Sr. Project Manager (15 yrs + experience) will be based out of SEMA’s Rocky Mountain District office in South Denver, but will be responsible for managing a $100M roadway project located in Colorado Springs. The ideal candidate will have prior engineering design and construction field experience. Special consideration will be made for consulting / design engineers that desire to transition into or has transitioned to the contractor side of the business.

Major areas of responsibility include:

  • Manage all project operations including staff and client relationships
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for projects
  • Assure quality control, contract compliance, and administration throughout the project
  • Oversee all project administration systems and management of job site personnel
  • Perform extensive client relationship management, represent the organization at regional meetings, develop proposals and onsite inspections as necessary
  • Coordinate with superintendents and foreman to ensure project goals and expectations are met
  • Ensure project compliance with SEMA’s safety policies and OSHA safety standards
  • Must be able to manage changes in scope of work and be proficient in Viewpoint
  • Schedule and supervise foreman and field personnel with daily schedules including materials, subcontractors, equipment, quality control, etc
  • Prepare project planning to include project definition, scope, resources, budget, and schedule
  • Manage project budget and processes change orders as needed
  • Negotiate contracts and provide customer support on all jobs
  • Coordinate and delegate timely completion of traffic control plans, equipment mobilization, safety plans, haul road plans, erosion control plans, purchase ordering, job costing, and other duties as required
  • Manage all subcontractors for timely completion and quality

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in all aspects of managing civil construction projects with a proven track record of success (including roadways, bridges, underground utilities and support infrastructure)
  • Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree from a four-year university
  • Proven leadership skills and highly professional demeanor
  • Experience working with DOTs
  • Proficiency in Viewpoint a plus
  • Applicant must be a self-starter who operates independently and thrives in a busy environment
